Drawing on my experiences with helping people bring out their best, I've developed a series of themes that provide inspiration and practical guidance. These talks are based on principles that hold true for any organization seeking to inspire its leaders and shape its culture, and for any individual who desires guidance in their pursuit of personal excellence.
Here are three themes that I am able to apply to your specific circumstance. The teaching principles of these messages can be adjusted to the unique challenges that your organization may be facing, or objectives that you may be wishing to achieve.
Like an acorn that has the ingredients to become a giant oak, we are each “fully loaded” to achieve greatness. The challenge of leadership is to create an environment for people to grow. I call it “soil work". I believe this is leadership’s greatest challenge. Too often the workplace is a place where people die rather than thrive. I will tell the incredible and inspiring story of Easy Eddie and Butch O’Hare, a life and business lesson that illustrates the principles that choices matter and that decisions have consequences.
Eventhough invisible, a company’s culture is felt and experienced by the customer. While the unseen buttresses of character and trust give stability to an organization, it is the power of purpose that is the ultimate driver of high performance. These messages are incorporated into powerful teaching points, meaningful metaphors, and impactful visuals. Messages include inspirational stories laced with good humor, along with insights based on exclusive interviews with former UCLA Coach John Wooden, Super Bowl Champ Coach John Harbaugh, and various All-Pro NFL players.
Consider these simple questions: Does the track that a train must follow create a restriction, leaving it in bondage and denied of its freedom? Or by running on its track, is the train following a prescription for how it operates best, allowing it to freely become all it is meant to be? The answer is obvious. Yet many organizations and individuals have a tendency to drift from their mission, lose their focus, and even get derailed from their intended destination. Much like the laws of nature that govern the universe, there are also laws of living and laws of leadership that are equally sure and true. Whether we choose to embrace them - or ignore them - they still exist and they will govern the flight of your organization, and your personal life. Based on a fascinating teaching based on the principles that guide the flight of an arrow, I identify and illuminate the five laws of flight that inform the decisions, guide the trajectory, and shape the culture of a high performance organization.
